Volunteers are integral to the success of our mission - Making Dogs Family.

Can't take in a dog, but still want to help? We need you!

Volunteer Application

Volunteers do the bulk of the work for our organization. Here are some ways to help:

Dog-Related Volunteer Activities:

  • Walk the dogs at the shelter so they have some time outside their kennels. This is typically done on Monday & Thursday mornings.

  • Take a boarding dog for a doggy day out or a sleepover! Boarding dogs do not get as much individual attention as our foster dogs, and they need love too.

  • Transport dogs to rescues or to their vet checkups.

  • Transport supplies and medication to and from our fosters.

Administrative Volunteer Activities:

  • Assist with keeping online adoption profiles up-to-date and refreshed.

  • Coordinate with our adoption team on what they need help with: reviewing applications, calling references, organizing documents, etc.

  • Fundraising help including grant-writing, community outreach, communicating with local governments and citizens, etc.

  • Help transport items for events.

Specialized Skillset Volunteer Activities:​

  • Marketing - social media and traditional

  • Website creation and maintenance

  • Photography and videography of our dogs and volunteers

  • Event planning - small and large scale

  • Experience in non-profit accounting - record keeping, tax filings, etc.

  • Experience in non-profit legal & government coordination
